Our Guidelines
- Original work only. Submissions must be your own, unpublished elsewhere, and free of plagiarism.
- Length: 800 to 1,800 words is the usual range.
- Clear and useful. Write in plain, direct language. Lead with the point, explain why it matters and avoid jargon.
- Back it up. Support claims with credible sources and link to primary documents or data where possible.
- Balanced where it counts. Opinion pieces are welcome, but they must be fair to opposing views and factually sound.
- No promotion. We do not publish content whose main purpose is to advertise a product, service or company, and we do not accept paid placements or sponsored guest posts.
- Disclose interests. Tell us about any financial or professional connection to the subject of your article.
- Exclusive consideration. Please do not submit the same piece to other publications at the same time.
How to Pitch
Email your pitch to [email protected] with the subject line Guest Pitch: [Your Topic]. Please include:
- A proposed headline and a two-to-three sentence summary of your argument or story.
- Why the topic matters now and why you are the right person to write about it.
- A short bio and links to two or three published writing samples, if you have them.
- The sources or data you plan to rely on.
You may also send a complete draft in the body of the email or as a Google Docs or Word attachment.
What Happens Next
- We review pitches and drafts, and aim to reply within 7 to 10 business days. If we do not respond in that time, you are free to submit elsewhere.
- Accepted pieces go through editing and fact-checking. We may ask for revisions, additional sourcing or clarification.
- We reserve the right to edit for clarity, length, style and accuracy, and to decide the headline and publication date.
- Published articles include a byline and a short author bio with one link to your professional site or social profile.
Terms of Contribution
Guest contributions are unpaid. By submitting an article, you confirm that you are its sole author and that you have the right to submit it. If your piece is accepted, you grant U.S. Dispatch Report a non-exclusive license to publish, display and archive it on our website and in related promotion, and you retain ownership of your work. All submissions are also subject to our Editorial Policy.
We look forward to reading your ideas.
